oh shizzle...

its friday, which mean NEW ANIMATION SCREENING!

okay basically, i did a really small animation for viscom, but cause I've made a video clip within a video clip, when i export it to an avi, the animation isnt working.
so i tried converting it from a swf to an avi via screen grabbing software, but that made the whole animation really blurred and ugly.

so sorry folks, i just have to give you double next week!
i'll try and work the problem after i finish work tommorow

in the mean time, just wait patiently,

catch up on some mind numbing tv...like the Xfactor :) lol

this is only a snippet of the whole thing, the rest includes the play button destroying everything with its secret laser button. :) sounds pretty cool i know. lol
this is just my first edit, i'll improve on these in the future with better graphics and animation.

i'm going to be making my own music for this, its probably going to be piano based, but i havent experimented with music just yet so who knows!

hope you enjoy my frames in play

impossible is animations middle name

this is so incredibly amazing!

PES is my hero!

this is so awesome!

a mini sketch i did a while ago...

with a cherry on top?

could y'all please give me some feedback please.
i would really appreciate it!

if you need some help, here are some little questions just to get you thinking...

what did you think it was about?
what did you think about how i presented this idea?
did the music work? if not which music would you suggest?
what other ways could i have presented this idea?
what do you think i should change?
what did you like/dislike?
did you find the animations too quick, should i make them longer?

thank y'all

xox

trying out that experiment a little more

this was supposed to be longer but i have little time to finish...
so this is all y'all are getting...

jus realised...

frames in play can shorten to F.I.P.

now doesn't that sound cool!

mac's are so awesome!

i just have to be patient as im waiting for my piggy bank to get fat. (metaphor used cause im saving up for a quad core!)
& this animation is just teasing me! its from friggen 1988!!! ( i know walt disney came before this) im jus' sayin'...

rough and ready??

this is VERY experimental...which i guess is good cause experimenting is always good.
tried out collage with stop motion, trying to see how that works out.

i actually had no idea how this was going to turn out and everything used in the stop motion is in the pile of stuff(aka rubbish but in art its valuable) on my desk.
This is part of my viscom project, on the 'places to hide' assignment.
i think i kind of showed that in this cause if you spotted, the people are covered by the bits of paper, and the walking is meant to show how so many people walk past you but you dont even remember them thus them hiding within the crowd. get it??

it probably makes more sense in my head.
also added the music after, and it synced up pretty well.
ah, i love prodigy.

anyway...here is my latest....

make racism eggstinct

okay i know im cheating a little bit with this one, cause i did this last year in graphics!
i'm still animating my mj song, on frame 400 out of 2100, so i'm going to be a little longer on that, sorry peeps!

This one is how i see racists; a word given to people who are narrow minded and speak utter rubbish.
I've tried making the whole subject a little lighter, just cause it makes the concept seem even more stupid than it already is.
anyway, enough of my blabbering....

another idea!

want to do a stop motion animation based on a very shy person, someone that likes to hide from the world.
e.g. behind their hair, in their music, in their mind, in their rooms etc
that sort of thing
and i was thinking of basing this on a stereotypical 'emo' person.
so there will be mini animations on their nails.

I wanted this to be for one of my vis com projects but my tutor said it was too much of a literal approach plus i came to the decision of my final outcome on the first day.
he told me to experiment with my ideas a little more.
but i really think this idea has potential, so imma be doing this outside of art school.

this shall be added to my list of animations i need to do.
>my fav MJ song
>Part 2/3 of Dictionary love
>emo hands

beast

At the moment i'm just making an animated version of my favorite MJ song.
Again, I'm just experimenting with hand drawn animation so don't be annoyed if it isn't great stuff.

Miss him.

blublu

an absolute genius!
click this to see more of his stuff
but oh my, he is a huge inspiration!

Dictionary Love Part 1

This was how I expressed 'Word's fail me' in the list in our visual communication's assignment. It was meant to be a calculator expressing it's 'Love' to the dictionary but with calculator letters obviously, thus 'word's fail me'.
We then had to build on our strongest idea & I chose this one cause it had the most potential.
I thought of making an animation for the dictionary and calculator's love story & show how you don't really need words.
This is just the first part of the story, I didn't have enough time to do the rest of it. But this should keep you entertained for the mean time. I admit this is on the tad cheesy side, but hey, I'm no script writer.

my manager

used to do freelance animation when he was younger, how much of a coincidence in that!
he did an animation for the company 'Bad Robot', a well known company, some of you may know of it.
but he got scammed, the cheats said that his idea was for a 'competition', he won the £3,000, & was told his idea was only going to be used once. But because his idea was so awesome, they continued using the idea and he wasn't credited at ALL! & he couldn't do anything cause he already signed the contract, which he didn't read properly.
A lesson to us all: Always read contracts throughly no matter how big of a company it is.
Here is his amazing work...

if you should know

I did all the animations below in a week.

count something pointless

I thought of counting the different colours in a pack of rowntrees fruit pastels.
I've come to a conclusion that there is more yellow ones than any other colour.
what happened to equality? psssh...
and theres also 14 sweets in each pack.
Another stop motion, taken by my late Sony Cyber-shot :'(.
Put together in Windows Movie Maker.

learn a poem by heart

I decided to learn the Macbeth 'witches' poem, not the whole thing, just part of it.
Would have been a nightmare animating the whole poem, just because of how much time I had, plus I don't want to over do it and bore people (which I hope I haven't already).

I tried syncing it to my terrible voice, it works kind of for the first half of it, but then just fails thereafter. Another fail of an attempt, but I'm working on it so bare with me.
I would advise you to turn your speakers up because the sound is terrible, but that would also mean that you need to hear my voice, so I shall not.
Used Macromedia Fireworks and Windows Media Player.

record yourself doing something backwards

When this was back to front :s, it was meant to be me acting like a bird.
A fail of an approach, but thus the use of 'Like a G6' in the background, like a plane...PUN! haha I'm so hiiilarious :)
Used Macromedia Flash and Windows Media Player.

record anything you see that shouldn't be

I like the whole idea of mixing doodle animation with photography, two things I really enjoy. This one is just another experiment of a monster type character, no story line whatsoever. Best suggested storyline will get 10000000 points!
I used Macromedia Flash for this, then added music with Windows media player.
Didn't take as long as I imagined it would and I was happy that the music kind of synced well.

write your name in water

sorry for the lack of clarity in this one, the .avi file takes 20 minutes to upload.
I shall upload it later, but from now on you must watch this!
I took another literal approach to the word & I used stop motion animation, something I find interestant (say in a french accent) but don't enjoy as much as 'doodle' type animation.
I include a rubber duck, which is always a WIN!
Another experiment, took 167 photos with my late Sony Cyber-shot and put it together in Windows Movie Maker.

180 degrees

When I looked at this title the first thing I thought of was a hug.
'cos when your arms are open to someone it measures '180 degrees' roughly.
This is again a very simple approach to the title, lack of time meant quick animations.

draw an object 20 times, each time getting smaller

who doesn't like snails? (except for garden geeks)
I was so mean when i was younger, used to put salt on snails and watch them suffer. Such a disturbed child.
anyway, I decided to draw snails for this project because they are cute and animated it because its not as literal as 'drawing an object 20 times, each time getting smaller' plus it looks cooler.
These are just experiments, as I have said before so don't be annoyed if it isn't amazing stuff.
Used Macromedia Flash this time, so much easier than creating a file for each frame. The drawings were pretty simple, so i didn't need to make individual files.

don't tread on cracks

This was part of my visual communication assignment. This is how I represented 'Don't tread on cracks'.
It was such a bother doing this, just because I animated this the 'long way' by drawing out each individual frame in Macromedia Fireworks (i can't afford the Adobe version just yet), 24 frames to be exact.
I did enjoy it obviously, it was just a bother because we had a list of 30 things to represent & this took the longest time.
I then put them all together in Windows Movie Maker (yeah, I also can't afford an Apple Mac QuadCore yet)
It's short and sweet.

introduction

Hello and welcome to my magnificent animation Blog.
I've written this already in the 'Know This' column, but i shall write more here!

This will be my animation blog, so I shall be uploading animations, maybe some photography and random ideas that come in my mind.

This blog will probably be on my personal wikipedia page after I'm rich&famous&working for Pixar.

I will try blogging every week, friday seems like a good day.

Hope you enjoy and follow me!

(btw did i say the word animation enough?, if not, animation, animation, animation!)
